Traditional mulled wine is out. Helsinki Jack will be the ultimate drink for the winter season. Germans can keep their Glühwein ans Swedes their traditional red Glögg drink. From now on people in Helsinki have their own winter drink Helsinki Jack.

Yet again we want to offer local flavors to you together with our bros from Browery Helsinki. Mid-November I got an idea in the middle of the day and immediately rang to Joel Pakalén from Browery Helsinki to test the idea with him. He absolutely loved the idea and a few minutes later the bros Mikko, Jani, Jasu and Timo had started the process of creating Helsinki Jack. Our common goal is to provide local experiences for everyone and Helsinki Jack is a perfect opportunity to do this.

We want Helsinki Jack to be available for everyone. If you scroll down you have the recipe there for Helsinki Jack. Anyone can make Helsinki Jack at home or any restaurant or bar can make it available for their guests.

The main ingredient by Helsinki Distilling Company

As you know we support the locals together with Browery Helsinki. This concept is no exception and the main ingredient of Helsinki Jack is AppleJack by yours truly Helsinki Distilling Company. Our local distillery Helsinki Distilling Company is also opening up a bar, Tislaamo Distillery Bar, on December 2nd.

Helsinki Jack has already been served in private functions at Restaurant Rantapuisto and at Hotel Katajanokka at Restaurant Linnankellari which is a cool and unique venue to enjoy some Helsinki Jack.

The Helsinki Jack Recipe

Helsinki Jack by Browery Helsinki x Heleats

1 dl “juice”
0,2 – 1 dl hot water (test the mix between water and “juice” to suit your taste)
1,5cl – 2cl Apple Jack

#helsinkijack

“Juice”

20 allspice
10 carnation
2 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
30g ginger (half)
2 tsp honey
1L apple juice

  1. Add all ingredients into a kettle and cook for one hour
  2. Let the juice cool down overnigh and take the spices out in the morning
  3. Let the juice rest for the day in the fridge to fortify the flavours
