Hietalahti Market Hall has become one of the best foodie places in Helsinki. You can shop local groceries or eat in many restaurants or cafés of Hietalahti Market Hall. For a while Hietalahti Market Hall was quiet and many shops were lacking entrepreneurs. The food boom has been going on for a while now at the Hietalahti Market Hall which is amazing to see.
Plenty of interesting new shops and restaurants have opened up. Hietalahti Market Hall is the only Market Hall in Helsinki open in the evenings. On Saturdays Hietalahti Market Hall hosts Musaa & Maistelua – Music & Tasting events by We Love Helsinki. Musaa & Maistelua – Music & Tasting is a perfect event to try out different delicacies.
Hietalahti Market Hall is a perfect place for breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner or grocery shopping. Weekends are the best time for flea market shopping in the summer seaon but flea market is also open on weekdays. We recommend the following tour for your Saturday. You can start your tour with a light breakfast at Sun Smoothie Bar.

In the summer time after breakfast do a little tour around the flea market (scroll down for more info about the flea market) and in the winter time one could for example go wander around the Design District of Helsinki. You’ve only had a light breakfast so after an hour or two of shopping go for a lunch at the Fat Ramen – Japanese Ramen Noodle Bar by the chef Marcos Gois.

Then it is time for some dessert. Robert’s Coffee serves delicious cakes or if you want you could try out traditional Finnish Cinnamon roll.

Hietalahti Flea Market – Hietsunkirppis
In the past Hietalahti flea market in the summer, Soppakeittiö with great soups and Roslund’s meat shop and restaurant with their legendary burgers have been the main reasons to visit Hietalahti Market Hall. Already these make Hietalahti a must place to visit for any visitor in Helsinki and a regular stop by for local people. Over 100 year old market hall is probably best known for the flea market in the summer time. You can find all kinds of different things from Finnish design, antiques or clothes at the flea market. The most active time is summer season which starts in May and ends up until end of September. Food is still the key element there. You could nearly spend a day exploring and enjoying the delicacies and treasures.
